Enter The Snowball

blue_microphones_snowball-tripod If you’ve listened to Episode 1 of the hundredpennies podcast you may have noticed that the sound quality was not it’s best.

Enter The Snowball

Hopefully this little bad boy to the left will record our sweet sweet vocals in the fidelity they deserve. Bring on Episode 2!

ecto3 Alpha

After what has seemed like a long wait ecto3 Alpha has been made public for the world to play with and test.
I’ve been a huge fan of the previous version of ecto and is my mac blogging tool of choice.
Check it out (remember that it’s still in Alpha) and let me know what you think.

Telstra + Nintendo DS = Free Online Fun!

Nintendo and Telstra have struck up a deal where you are now able to use your Nintendo DS at any of the many many Telstra WiFi hotspots for free!

Telstra hotspots are located at Mc Donalds, Starbucks, Airports, Hotels and many other places.

Update: Press release can be found here and a list of Telstra hotspots (there’s a lot) can be found here

It’s a deal, it’s a steal, it’s the Sale of the fucking Century!

If you are an Australian university student the ever so kind folks at Microsoft would like to hook you up with Office 2007 Ultimate for just $75.00.

Off the shelf this is worth $1150.00 and is actually a better package than the Teacher and Student edition which goes for about $250.00.

This deal ends on the 28th of May so if you can snap it up do it as it really is a fuckin sweet deal.

In fact I would purchase Office for $75.00 instead of downloading a pirate version… oh hey I get it now! Nice work Microsoft! I gues $75.00 is better than $0!

I’ve got my fingers crossed that Microsoft will now do the same with Vista!

Power Up!

At the gym yesterday listening to ‘The Shuffle Truffle’ I wanted to be able to skip to the  beginning of the playlist where I would have a ‘Power Song’ or two…

After a quick google I found out that if you press ‘Play Pause’ quickly three times you will be automagically sent to the beginning of your playlist.

So I’ve gone and put the classic Eye of the Tiger at the beginning as my ‘Power Song’

I want to have about 30 mins of Power Tracks and I’m wondering what you would suggest or listen while you work out.

I’m thinking of some Metallica Fuel and anything else with a high BPM (beats per minute) around 140 – 145BPM.

Enter Tangerine a neat little application that analyzes your iTunes library and notes the BPM and Beat Intensity.

Not only that it will create custom playlists that are designed with excerise in mind.

I haven’t been able to give it a full try as it is analizing my library as I type this but I’ll let you know I go…

Apple Store – Melbourne

Oh crap, I just pissed my pants a little… Fresh off the press is word that Apple is in the process of building two offical Apple stores in Sydney and Melbourne.

Now the Sydney store will be opened first but seeing that I am Melbourne born and bred I don’t really give a shit about Sydney.

The images below (credit to appleinsider.com) are for the Melbourne store which is planned to be located on the corner of Toorak Road and Chapel Street where the Fun Factory is / was located.

I’m not a huge fan of the location and would have preferred to see it located in the CBD but as this site will be a new development and have design inputs by Apple (unlike the Sydney store which will be using an existing building) I’m sure it will look like sex.

Anyway up until 15 minutes ago I was tempted to make the treck to Sydney once the new store opens but now that Melbourne is on the cards… actually who am I kidding I’ll go to both.

The Truffle Shuffle

Long story short. Hel’s iPod Nano has a broken LCD screen and while we try and find out if it can be repaired or if it is worth getting repaired I’ve decided to give Hels my iPod Nano and buy an iPod Shuffle (that sexy little blue temptress to the left) for me!

Also at the moment Apple have free engraving on all iPods so I went and got ‘The Truffle Shuffle’ on the back.

For those unaware of the ‘Truffle Shuffle’ please go watch The Goonies or at the least check out the ‘Truffle Shuffle’ over at YouTube.

How do you make something already sexy sexier?

Just add color! I was a HUGE fan of the little fella but was able to resist buying one. Now I’m not too sure… what color should I get?

Because Buying Things Blind Is Just Plain Silly

It’s about time something like this was made available. Especially after I bent over and Microsoft had their way with me when I bought the Hitman theme.
It doesn’t look like it covers everything at the moment but I’m sure it’ll grow and become a valuable resource.

Seeing this on apple.com makes me moist in all the right places… I wonder what goodies Uncle Steve will have for us this year?
MacWorld San Francisco is just round the corner so bring it on!
