DO NOT WATCH ‘THE OFFICE’ ON NETWORK 10 PERIOD
- IT IS THE LAMEST RIPOFF OF THE HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL BRITISH COMEDY OF THE SAME NAME
- THE US CHARACTERS SUCK MASSIVE DONG
- THE FIRST EPISODE IS WORD FOR WORD FROM THE BRITISH SERIES
- THIS SHOW CANNOT HOLD A CANDLE TO THE ORIGINAL
- PEOPLE ARE GOING TO BE DUMB ENOUGH TO THINK THIS SHOW IS FUNNY AND ORIGINAL AND BE NONE THE WISER

The Endless Search

well after a fair bit of searching (many many thanks to hels) pete , hels and myself inspected a place in box hill.
it is a very old place (we found newspapers from the 1940s in one of the cupboards) but has heaps of character and craziness.
it will be called the lodge and much cognac will be had.
there is a room called ‘the gimp’ room, it is about 1.5 x 2m and is fully carpeted. you fuck up and you may see yourself shaking up in their.

updates shortly…

i fkn need you more than evah

ever since watching old school i’ve had a fasination with the dan band and now all is complete as i have a copy of the dan band live and oh my god what an awesome album!
14 tracks of pure orgasmic gold for the ears…
there’s a little bit of your favourite female vocal tracks covering everything from salt n pepper , abba , missy and alanis.
i shit you not this is one of the better albums i’ve heard in a long time. the mix is really good and the grove is even better making you feel you are there grindin your ass off on the dance floor.
this is something i’ll have cranked up at many bbqs to come.

JBL Creature II
Bought these very sexy and very loud JBL Creature II speakers for my iMac today.
They look the goods and sound alright too.

In Your Honor

Alright well I’ll keep this short and sweet…
The new Foo Fighters album ‘in Your Honor’ is some pretty good shit. To start with you get a whole two discs of Fooey goodness, one is nice and loud rock and the other acoustic.
Track one disc one title track ‘In Your Honor’ sums up the whole first disc. Nice and loud and fast with lots of build up leading to an awesome break no matter how uncertain it may seem. This is not Foo Fighters of old and it shouldn’t be. Let’s not live in the past and enjoy the present people. This album most definately is better than ‘One by One’ which let me down in the lack of quality tracks. ‘In Your Honor’ has some outstanding tracks and after only a few plays I suggest the following tracks -
– In Your Honor (track 1)
– No Way Back (track 2) shares the same progression as Transdermal Celebration by Ween
– The Last Song (track 6) could be the next single me thinks, classic Foos. Awesome song to scream out loud (possibly being drunk will enhance the experience)
– Resolve (track eight) Footos anyone? Nice and soft… Sing it Dave
On the acoustic disc it is a little weird… a lot of effort has gone into the songs. They are not heavy songs done acousticly they are acoustic songs written and played that way. It took a little to get used to as I’m used to the ‘acoustic cover’ but there is some awesome shit on here.
It’s a whole other side to the Foo Fighters. At some points I had flashbacks of Kurt Cobain which I’m sure was a massive influence on Dave.
Tracks to listen to are –
– Another Round (track 4)
– Friend of a Friend (track 5) killer track with such deep lyrics, please listen and enjoy. I feel a little Kurt on this track.
– Virginia Moon (track eight) oh so awesome in a samba kind of way… very sexy
– Cold Day In The Sun (track 9) sooo Old School and seven shades of awsome
Anyway this album is very very good. I was a little wary after ‘One by One’ but I have learnt to understand that this is where the Foo Fighters are right now and don’t ecpect your Monkey Wrench or Generator because it aint going to happen chump. If you don’t like it well good luck to you but this is an album of substance and quality.

ps I love Dave Grohl and would be more than happy to give birth to his babies… i give myself to you oh god of rock n roll that you are… and you know it

The Holy Grohl

I’ve been listening to a couple of new albums over the last few days and well I’ve been left a little disappointment and wanting more.
The albums that have been getting a spin in iTunes have been –
– Gorillaz ‘Demon Days’ I’ve been waiting for this album after their debut ‘Self Titled’ kicked some serious ass. Catchy cruisin tracks with some wicked beats and rap fused together for your listening pleasure. I’m sure you’ve all seen the new iPod ad with the first single ‘Feel Good Inc’ as the soundtrack. After hearing that I had high hopes for ‘Demon Days’ yet ‘Feel Good Inc’ is about as good as it gets. Where I was wanting upbeats and backbeats, I got dark and curious. Which is not a bad thing just not the right thing in my opinion. So much potential for these crazy little 2D characters but it looks like Damon has written an album for him and his animated sidkicks. This reminds my a bit of Blurs ‘Think Tank’ which I also didn’t enjoy as I was expecting more. 6 out of 10
– Black Eyed Peas ‘Monkey Business’ as with Golillaz had a lot to live up to seeing that their last album was genious. This is a little short of the bar. I’m sure once it gets punished by the radio I’ll grow to like it more but at the moment it feels lacking the excitement and originality. I’m not sure how some of these tracks would go down live after seeing them last year. There are some awesome guest ie Jack Johnson and Sting however they don’t seem to be able to contribute a full 100% to the tracks they are on.
Anyway over time I think this will grow on me. 5 out of 10 for now…?
– Coldplay ‘X & Y’ is as I expected pretty good. Nothing different but it doesn’t have to be. Shit man if it aint broke don’t fix it! This is a really quality album to listen to and spend time with. It rewards you ffor your effort. Not too much to say as I really love this album and will see it getting high rotation when working and chillin out. 8 out of 10
Alright coming up on the horizon is the double disk Foo Fighters and I’m sure to get my little greasy paws on it as soon as humanly possible. This could be the musical highlight of the year. I might be biased and I also might want to have Dave Grohl’s babies.
Peace

The Last Episode

So I’ve just seen the final installment of the Star Wars sixtology (it’s soooo a word and if it’s not then I just created one. You don’t control me!) and well yeah it’s pretty good and completes the whole Star Wars saga but why did they have to make Episodes I , II and III?
I haven’t seen the whole first episode just on true morals. I think I made it through about 20 minutes before I turned it off. I’m not here to watch a family movie.
The second episode wasn’t that much better. Sure there was heaps of carnage which made the movie watchable but still not hitting the mark. That movie was just a filler transitional movie to set up for the third episode.
And so the third episode is here and it’s not bad but who writes the dialog?! I was expecting Ridge from The Bold and The Beautiful to pop up somewhere. Too damn cheesy for my liking.
Anyway I could go one for ever about this but please Hollywood stop making sequals , prequals , marvel movies and movies based on video games or plain obvious remakes!
Has everyone run out of ideas?

Best of 2004 – Music

Hi all it is Stu back again.

Well it is time for the best of 2004.
Best Live show 2004 – Winner – Mad Caddies at the Hi-Fi Bar – This was one hell of a great show it would be hard to get to see a better show then this one they came on stage played all the great songs went off stage after one hour and then came back for a 40 min encore and it really rocked.
Runner Up – Gyroscope at the Evelyn – This was also one great show Hornbag and Hornbagett came along and we all had one great time.

Best CD LP 2004 – Winner – Gyroscope “Sound Shattering Sound” – This was the best CD for me this year the good old Aus band from WA came out with a killer first LP and it is one dam fine CD. If you know me then I am 100% I have played you one of there songs and just to show you how good they are 2 of the songs from the CD are one 1 and 2 in my most played songs in iTunes with 15 plays each.
Runner Up – Green Day “American Idiot” – This is back to great Green day for me after a very disappointing last effort the boys have pulled out a great CD with this one and if you have not given it a go by now don’t be turned off by the single American Idiot it is much better then the title track would suggest.

Best Venue 2004 – Winner – Evelyn – This place was a great new venue for me before this year I had not been to a single show at this place but as this year ends I have seen 4 shows and they were all very good. I went to see Yellocard as they were known back then ( more on this issue latter ) great show then The Real McKenzies at this show I managed to land on top of another mosher all with a beer in my hand that smashed the hand of this dude but we both just got up and went back to having one hell of a good time. Then came Blueline and Pilot to Gunner this was also a great show but more laid back as it went very late. Then it was Gyroscope and well I have told you how good that was.
Runner Up – Corner Hotel – This place is one of the best venues in Melbourne it is just a great place to see a band and I did see some show’s this year a great one was Lagwagon one of the great Punk rock bands from the Fat roster.

Best Rising Talent – Winner – Yes yet again they have won its Gyroscope they are just so great and are the best new band I have found in a long time.
Runner Up – The Used – Now they might not be new but I see them as a Rising talent and after the new CD they unleashed on us all this year “In Love and Death” I feel they are going on to bigger and better things only time will tell.

Ok now to the Crap Awards.

Winner Crap Live Show – Yellowcard – This show would have to be the most disappointing show of 2004 it was just simply lame at great example of how a band can make it big and then not care at all for the fans who made them. I went to see them at the start of the year and it was a really great show so when they came back it was a no brainer I had to see them again Headlining the show and at a bigger venue like the Hi – Fi bar but it was CRAP they were not into the show at all and the crowd were very down and out not a good Mosh at all then they went off stage after like 40min and could not even grace us with an encore so I gave them a verbal spray not nice. I hope they did listen to some of what I yelled at them shame on you YellowCrap shame shame shame.

Winner Carp CD – This one was easy Grinspoon for “Thrills,Kills + Sunday Pills” Well after really getting big after the last LP from the boys in “New Detention” and I mean big they went from playing shows at the HI-Fi bar to selling out Festival Hall this new CD was a big letdown. Now my idea of why this was the case is one the lead singer does not drink now before they play a show and because they made it big and they just decided to try and go with the same format that made them big from the last CD and it was a big big Crap CD. Shame Shame Shame.

Well this is all from me I would like you all to get on and get you own list up in the Forum or post it in the comments section I will put up a new topic for you to put you best off for 2004 so go on get Posting people and if you are new to the site please register and put your comments up.

And The Winner is “Sydney”

Hello all it is Stu back with a post from the road.

As you can tell by the heading I am in Sydney and let me tell you the first 2 days I was up this way was Dam hot it was 40 and add to this I am at my Grandma’s place and no airconn or good insulation it was F ing hot people.

So I thought going to Sydney would be a bit of a detox for me as I would not be drinking well that plan did not work I have had a beer everyday and what’s better one night at this great Pub we went to I got a Free Coopers hat like the one Mr. Hornbag has how cool is that? Let me tell you the pub food is just not up to Melbourne standards people like $20 for a Parma and it was not good and it was Thursday dam I got totally ripped off well actually my Dad did I didn’t pay. Another good bit about being on holiday I finally finished the Book I was reading that was all about OJ Simpson and how it was total bullshit he got off and was all about the ice-cream defense good book if you’re interested in it have a chat to Tre Paul.

Now I will be back on Wednesday and so that means I will be in for Parma and Pint this Thursday people. Also latter on I will be putting up the Hornbag Best of Music for 2004 that will be fun for all. Well I must go now my time is over a big shout out to all my friends and my Lady you know who you are I will see you all soon.
