Are you ready to RAWK?

Posted by: TreMcLovin In: Geek it up!

Alright people, the new Guitar Hero is almost here and the playlist has been published. This game look set to shit all over the first one with not only heaps more (and better) tracks, but a much improved multiplayer element that allows players to battle head to head or in co-op mode. You can choose to play the song note for note or play just the lead, rhythm or bass parts, or go back to the original way and take turns through the song.

10,000 Days

Speaking of Kyle Sandilands….the new tool album is only a few weeks away so all you metal heads out there get ready to rock!

in anticipation of the upcoming album, a single has been released to generate interest, which is a little unusual for a band well known for producing many songs that could almost match whole punk albums for length by themselves. but then again may not be as silly as it seems as it has been almost six years since their last album so generating interest may be require to remind everyone they are still around!

New Sensation!

Today I was sitting in front of my computer, doing everything in my power to avoid writing this essay, and during my travels through cyberspace came across this piece of 24 carat GOLD!

Some of you may be thinking that it is all a joke: trust me, this is the real deal. This guy and his ‘boys’ actually exist, and are not joking! After perusing through the thread (which may take a while, just look at the pics and what ‘MarlboroMan’ has to say), head over to his web page, yet another mine fully stocked with more gold:

Shame, Shame, Shame

I hate to get political with you guys but this crazy shit is not on.  I just hope it doesn’t extend to Melbourne.  I want every Australian, black and white, Asian, Polynesian, Arabic and everything in between to realise this is not on.  We live in a country that is famous internationally for its fair-going attitude, easy spirit and friendliness.  We have many bases of history and I like it that way, lets all learn to get along!  And for fucks sake, Melbournites, show your maturity and ignore this shit!  All this is making it hard for foreigners (i.e. me and Dave)  to get along!

vroom & dreesmann

Posted by: TreMcLovin In: Geek it up!| Random Stuff| Reviews

yo chumps in oz, ’twas only yesterday myself and the boys headed into the hoog catherijne to find a copy of trivial pursuit to cure our boredom and desire to impress out peers with our abilities in retaining useless information, only to find that vroom & doormann stocks only copies of T.P. in dutch, so that was the end of that plan. instead we picked up a copy of rummikub - travel edition, which i had never heard of. to my surprise, after the usual beginners difficulties, i give it two thumbs up, top game. after the purchase of the product, it occured to me that our very own lipton rod had asked my very self to try out an xbox 360 machine if possible. low and behold the section of vroom and doormann that we were standing in just happened to contain one test machine for the 360! well fuck my ass and call me a bitch. the consensus: a little hard to give after only 30 seconds of play as the game that was on offer was a cross between ‘tomb raider’ and ‘the little pixies’ so, obviously, it was shit. but, on the upside, the machine produces graphics that are chopin for the eyes. crystal clear HD visuals that are as smooth as michael chiklis’ head. the controller is getting more like a PS2 controller in terms of button layout, only retained in a more original xbox - batman symbol style handpiece so it is still pleasant to use. the white colours give the machine a totally new look, more like the way an iBook shits over PCs in terms of looks and clean lines, although the machine it’s self is still quite large. but then again, it must take some room to squeeze in all that hardware. as for sound, i am not sure there, as the middle of vroom and doormann isn’t the ideal place to check out how a soundcard does it’s job. the only problem i can see is that it may require the use of an HDTV to get the best out of this white knight. no doubt should definetly be worth the money, depends on the games, naturally, and level of ‘tweakability’. two thumbs up!

The Eagle Has Landed

Posted by: TreMcLovin In: Shout Out!

Congrats to Ben Cousins for winning the Chas Brownlow Trophy for 2005. I’m sure it must have been a spectacular season for him, as they don’t give these medals away (ok they might have in 2003). The only experience I have with West Coast was when Collingwood (then last) managed to topple the top team! But anyway, enough talk about Collingwood’s one and only triumph of the year.
Naturally the Brownlow action was a little thin on the ground over here in sunny Utrecht, but thanks to Stu for the round-by-round updates, cheers bro.
Now, only one day in September left…..(and my birthday, so two days really)

Ashes to Ashes

Posted by: TreMcLovin In: Random Stuff| Rants

Well, the world wakes up today with the knowledge that Australia have lost the Ashes, after 16 years of total dominance. It may seem a little a slight over-exaggeration to compare this event with 9/11 or even WWII, but for me losing to England, no matter what the occasion is a total disaster.

I declare a day of mourning for the 13th of September.

RIP Australian Cricket
