Ponting is the key

Ricky Ponting

In 2 days time Australia will begin their quest to win again in India after their 2004 breakthrough and continue their dominance of World Cricket. People are however starting to say that Australia are as weak as they have ever been. A total lack of quality spin bowing and an overall bowling attack that is very young could prove to be their downfall.

The Gaslight Anthem

It is not often that I go to see a band live and after seeing them continue to play their songs on my iPod. I can say after seeing these guys live and picking up their EP Señor and the Queen that they are currently my favorite band of the year.

If you have never listened to The Gaslight Anthem then I highly recommend that you pick up this 4 track EP. I don’t normally like EP’s as they don’t have enough songs but this EP really just smashes you with the sound that is The Gaslight Anthem. Now after 15 plays of this EP I still can’t stop listening to it. Their sound is hard to describe but I guess I would call it folksy punk.

Apple Store Sydney

Posted by: Stu In: Geek it up!

Today I got a chance to check out the new Apple store in Sydney. It is an impresive store and designed like all apple products with style and class.

The store is very large with 3 levels it is all spaced out well and has a large amount of staff. All the products are set up and can be used including Internet access. The stores remind me a lot of borders book stores in the relaxed atmosphere where they allow you to test products and use the net.

All up if you are in sydney I recomend dropping in.

iPhone - The price is…..

Posted by: Stu In: Geek it up!

Optus today went out and announced the plans and cost of an iPhone. So how much will this hot new tech gadget cost?

Pre-Paid:

$729 for the 8GB model.

$849 for the 16GB model.

This is about how much everyone was thinking the iPhone would cost a long time back before the clever lads at Apple announced that it would be available at $199 world wide.

As we now all know the $199 cost was with the phone on a 24 month contract. The only way to get the phone uncontracted is pre-paid. If you do get the pre-paid version it can be unlocked from the Optus network for $80 allowing you to use it with another provider.

iPhone Aus

Posted by: Stu In: Geek it up!

I thought I would put in my thoughts on the upcoming iPhone launch in Aus and how much it might cost. In the old US of A they have said it will cost $199 and as we all know this is a lot less then the current version of the iPhone. How could they sell it for this much and still make money? The mobile providers who have the iPhone are subsidising the cost of the handset. This is commonplace in the mobile handset business as the way you make money is having people locked into a 24 month contact and using your network. Apple will not be making a loss as the Mobile providers will be paying apple more the US $199 for the handset.

Harbhajan Singh and Slapgate

Posted by: Stu In: Uncategorized

As Australians we all know that our cricket team are not the friendliest people to compete against. They will use sledging as a tool to get ahead whenever they can.  Some claim this is one of the main reasons we have been the best in the world for such a long time. After the infamous Sydney test match a lot was said about how the Australians conduct themselves on the field and how they should just take some of their own medicine. I was reading all this at the start of the year and was thinking that this is just wrong. If an Australian player was found guilty of racially abusing an Indian player he would have been suspended and made to apologise. When the Aussie team accused an Indian player of doing this what happened?
