Crank 2 – Red Band Trailer

As 2008 comes to an end it’s good to know that there is something to look forward to in 2009.

Crank 2 is one of those things. Check out the badass trailer below.

Yes it looks shit and low budget but you have to admit it does look awesome.

Episode 27 – This Time From Behind

We welcome back Fu and Raj to the podcast and we cover a mixed bag of geeky goodness:

  • XBOX NXE is good. PS3 Home not so much.hp
  • Apple releases 10.5.6 and we finally get to play a stable game of Chess.
  • We’re tempted to install OS X on the MSI Wind.
  • Steve Jobs gives MacWorld a wide berth but we still expect new Mac Minis.
  • We want Hulu but enjoy ABC’s iView
  • Oh yeah and something about Stu being a dad… Congrats!

A BetaMaXmas

screen-capture

Christmas is that special time of the year where you get to watch bad Christmas movies like The Santa Clause, A Mom For Christmas and I’ll Be Home For Christmas (JTT FTW) at all times of the day. Add to this reruns of every ‘Christmas Edition’ TV show and I’m in heaven.

So I was very extremely happy to find a site that lets me do this all year round and especially at work!

Enter BetaMaXmas where you are transported to a 1980ish basement where the only things on TV are Christmas themed shows. Everything from He-Man, Sesame Street, Pee Wee Herman, Married With Children only to name a few…

The TV’s pretty sweet for 1980something as it has a remote but you may need to adjust the bunny ears to get a better picture and if you wanna know what’s on check TV Guide.

Music News

Well as I promised on the latest hundredpennies podcast (Ep 26) here’s my weekly post.

The first timetables for 2009′s Soundwave Festival have been released so if you’ve got a ticket, now would be a good time to start planning your day. Even with the impressive band line up there shouldn’t too many timetable clashes as the bands will be spread out amongst a total of 6 stages. I’ve also heard that the beer zones will be situated closer to the stages & there will be better food options than last years grot dogs.

Keep in mind that this timetable may be subject to change so stay tuned for any updates when we get closer to the event. If you haven’t got yourself a ticket they’re still available so pick one up here.

Speaking of tickets, it’s recently been announced that Canadian punkers Propagandhi will finally be hitting our shores after a 11 years wait. To celebrate the release of their as yet untitled upcoming album they’ll be playing the Corner Hotel on the 21st & 22nd of February. Further info & tickets for all shows can be found here on December 12th.

As we’re drawing to the end of another year we can also expect to start seeing the obligatory nomination lists for 2008′s “best of” music. One particularly good one can be found over at Bombshellzine so start filling it in to be in the running for some prizes. Check the link.

Cheers & until next update keep rocking,

Songbird 1.0

songbird-logo

I thought today that I would let you know about a new music management/player called Songbird. They have just released version 1.0 to the public and it is looking good. Songbird is open-source and works on all operating systems. Some of the cool features are:

  • Mashtape – discover flickr photos, YouTube vids, biographies, Google news and more for the currently playing artist.
  • Easy import from iTunes.
  • Customized Add-ons

A lot is planed for this player one of the features on the way that I love is watch folders so when new music goes into the folder it will be imported into Songbird. iPods are currently supported but not the phone or touch. This can only be a good thing as Apple have owned the media management for a long time now and I know a lot of people are looking for alternatives especially people on a pc. I will be having a play with Songbird over the next few weeks and will report back once I have been able to test it out.

Episode 26 – The One Where We Talk Video Games

It’s been a while and we’re glad to be back.

Coming down from the recent rush of video games the boys take a moment to review the following:

  • Fable 2 vs Fallout 3
  • Rock Band vs Guitar Hero World Tour
  • Gears of War 2 vs Left 4 Dead
