In 2 days time Australia will begin their quest to win again in India after their 2004 breakthrough and continue their dominance of World Cricket. People are however starting to say that Australia are as weak as they have ever been. A total lack of quality spin bowing and an overall bowling attack that is very young could prove to be their downfall.
Looking at the overall squad you would feel that they would be hard pressed to get the 20 wickets required to win a test match. For me this series and the success of the Aussi team is all down to one man. Ponting is going to be the key in this tour the man who currently only averages 12.28 in India. Why is he the key? I don’t think that we can actually win the series with our bowing attack and think for us not to loose we are going to need our batters to fire.
Ponting must improve on this average and get over this love of loosing his wicket to the evil one (Harbhajan). If Ponting can find form on this tour I think it will end in a draw with a score line of 1-1. However if he continues to fail I just don’t think our bowlers can do it and I feel we will loose and loose bad. All our batters must fire due to our weak bowling attack.
Is our 10+ year run at the top soon to end? I don’t think one series loss would prove that our run is over (2005 ashes anyone?) however I do think that our dominance of the game might be over and by the end of next year we might no longer be the number one team in the world.
Come on Aussies C’mon, C’mon. Come on Aussies C’mon!
Still the greatest Cricket Anthem!
Yes so true Raj it is one great little song.
…and a close second I think will be Hayden. The man needs to dominate at the crease both physically and mentally.
It’ll be very interesting to see Pointing vs Harbhajan throughout the series as this will be a massive duel which hopefully Ponting will win.
Yes Hayden has a great average in India of 67 so lets hope he can keep that up or even improve on it.
