Paris does Letterman

Actually the title of this post should be Letterman does Paris.

I stumbled across this on digg.com and Trendy posted it in a comment and it really does deserve it’s own post.

Sit back and enjoy Letterman at his finest as he destroys Paris Hilton in this interview. She takes it pretty well (I’m sure we’ve all seen the videos) especially when Dave doesn’t let up.

God bless you Dave. If only all of your interviews were like this.

It’s A Mac Attack!

Hi All,

As I’ve recently came into the possession of a new 80 Gb iPod classic I’ll soon be writing up a proper review of this new addition to the apple lineup. However before then I want to have a rant about the whole ordering process. While all my friends have numerous iPod’s I never really felt the need to give into the hype as I’ve been using my psp for music for the last 2 years. However after the recent apple press release I finally succumbed and brought one online. The main reason for this was the fact that I was sick of only being able to fit about 2 Gbs of music on the psp’s memory stick. As I’m a fairly avid listener of music this meant that I would have to fill it up at least twice a week, which was a real bitch of a job. The fact that the new 80 Gb ipod fit’s all my music has more features and is actually cheaper than the previous 60 Gb version finally converted me.

As the classic wasn’t actually in store over here yet I didn’t really have a choice but to get one online. However as delivery and engraving is free when you order at the apple store I was pretty happy that it only cost $349. As it was a no brainer about what to get engraved (‘Kick Out The Jams’, wikipedia it people) the only tough decision was the colour. In the end I settled on black as the new brush metal finish isn’t as liable to scratch as on the previous models.

Note: the rest of this post is just me ranting about TNT to anyone that will listen but fuck it it’s my post anyway.

The delivery of the iPod was a bit of a mixed bag. I placed the order on a Thursday night but was stupid enough to get it delivered to my unit. Everything was fine on the apple end as they shipped from asia pretty much the day after I put my order in. However I came home on the following Monday and found that the delivery company TNT had left a calling card saying that they came in the afternoon and no one was home. Why didn’t they ring and arrange a time? After giving them a call I found out that not only do they need your signature but that the package had ended up in their depot in fucking Laverton. Were is laverton you ask. In the middle of fucking nowhere that’s where. Apparently this is their only depot and therefore the only place you can pick it up in person. How about putting one in the city dickheads. Fuck that I thought and asked them to change the delivery address to work. After a bit of attitude from the grumpy bitch on the line she said that the earliest it would get there would be Wednesday. However after another two days of squat I had to call them again and find what the deal was. Apparently the delivery address had not been changed and now they said it would not get there until Tuesday. Following my fuming I came into work the next day and lo and behold my ipod was there after all the bullshit. TNT ought to get their act together as Gav has previously mentioned he has had problems with them as well. If Apple has any sense they will get rid of TNT and get another delivery company.

All’s well that ends well I’ve ranted enough.

Feel free to leave a comment if you’ve had similar delivery problems or even if you’re just bitter and want to complain about something else.

New Simpsons Episode Picks Up Where The Movie Finished

Well this is pretty cool, the intro to Episode 1 Season 19 (can you believe it?!) of The Simpsons pretty much picks up from where the movie finished. Very clever and well done.

On a side note, does anyone still watch The Simpsons? Is it worth getting back into as I haven’t really watched a full season in years.

Time to Save

Just a quick post to remind those that own an Xbox 360 to save the pennies.

thousand_cube_A

XBOX 360 Chatpad

I went and bought the XBOX 360 Chatpad (above) and have been playing with it over the last 24 hours and thought I’d post my thoughts…

  • Fits like a glove and once attached feels like it’s part of the original controller.
  • Could be pretty hard to remove.
  • Adds a little bit of weight to the controller but nothing to worry about.
  • Even though the chatpad is raised and fills in the bottom of the controller you don’t even know it’s there. In fact the raised area provides a good place to rest your palms.
  • Keypad has a great feel with the buttons big enough for fat fingers.
  • Backlight is a nice and unexpected feature.
  • Integration with XBOX while playing a DVD or game is superb. Totally adds a new level to messaging on the 360.
  • Got yet another headset bundled to add to the pile however this one is a little different due to the input on the chatpad.
  • Bundled headset sucks as the volume and mute function is now under your chin meaning that you now have to move your hand from the controller which is further than you used too. I just don’t get it. Lucky I have a wireless headset.

And Now I’m Excited

Sure there are lots of features in Leopard that are great but this one will have people thanking the big fella upstairs.

iCal’s icon will now show todays date even if it’s not open!

Goodbye July 17!

Happy Birthday Tre and Fu!

A quick shout out to a couple of gents who turned 25 today, Tre and Fu. Happy birthday boys and have a great day.

So you want to be a champion?

Hi guys,

Thought I would write a post about the Grinspoon gig I saw at Ferntree Gully last night.

Fu, stu, tre and Gav kicked off the night with some ‘fuck off’ sized food and some beer at Captain America’s which is a little restaurant right around the corner from the Ferntree Gully hotel. Looked at the size of their meals it’s no wonder american’ts came up with the term ‘Super Sized’. Another american’t stereotype was met when I tasted their piss poor version of a pale ale. Just a note guys pale ale is not the same as a larger. Anyway onto the show.

I’ve you’ve never been to the Ferntree Gully Hotel your not missing much as it’s a bit of a dive. Being originally from the m.t Dandenong area I wasn’t surprised with the amount of bogan bums around but I was with impressed with the size of the venue and how many people were there. The show was sold out and I think someone mentioned that there was about 1000 people there which is pretty good for a gig at a hotel/bar.

We caught the start of ‘Something For Numbers’ act and even though they all looked like a bunch of 16yr olds they played some pretty good pop rock music. They even had some girl next to us dancing a crazy spastic dance at one stage.

After another 30min of soaking in the beer, bogus and bitch’s Grinspoon finally came onto stage at about 11:00. They kicked it off with their first single Black Tattoo from their new album ‘Alibis and other lies’. It was a great start and really rocked. They then played a pretty much non-stop 1 1/2 hr set with most of the songs coming off their last 2 albums. Songs that I can remember them playing include Outside looking in, Leave it, Gun for hire,Find your own way (all off their new album),Bleed you dry, better off alone, chemical heart, hold on me (From New detention and Kills,Thrills & Sunday pills) and sweet as sugar.

Highlights included pretty much any of their back catalogue with older fast songs such as Hard Act To Follow, More Than You Are and their new song What You Got was great and had an awesome chorus (Giddy up, POW!). One of my favourite songs 1000 Miles was really fast and loud just the way I like it.

I was actually surprised with the number of acoustic songs that they played and how the crowd really got involved in them. I didn’t actually know that Phil could play acoustic guitar and considering his vocals are rather rock orientated they sounded really good. He even pulled out the harmonica at some stage which is always cool.

By the end of the night most of my buddies were drunk and somehow they managed to join in a moshing ring with some locals without getting either a shiv or a punch to the face. To finish off their encore Grinspoon played an old classic Champion which Stu and Gav had been requesting all night. Since they were the only 2 shouting out for this song it just goes to show what you can achieve through a little perseverance and a lot of drunken shouting.

After the light’s had come back on it was crazy to see how much broken glass and bottles were lying around the place. Since the venue was mostly carpeted I assume most of that shit will still be there next time I come back, for the guns & roses, bon jovi & kiss tribute night on the 19th October.

In the parking lot after the show we saw Phil and the Grinspoon boys nearly ran down some local bogans in their rush to get the hell out of bums town.

On a last note if you’ve never been to a music night around Mt Dandenong do yourself a favor and check one out. If you’ve read my previous post Gyroscope + Rubys = Best Gig Ever you won’t need further convincing but it does come with the Crazyman’s guarantee of awesomeness (Note: Not valid outside Australia).

Episode 5: Ultra Chilled

Stu and Gav welcome Tre Paul to the couch to partake in this weeks alcohol fueled episode. With kebab and beer in hand the boys kick back and let the magic flow. Hilarity ensues…
