Road To Inverock – Pies

Hmmmmmm…… Pies…… Just thinking about the pies makes me hungry.

One of the highlights and most talked about things at Inverock is the pies. There is a sweetas bakery in town call A Slice of Paradise that has at least 20 different pies and word on the street is that another 6 have just been added.

A crowd favorite is the Paradise Pie, which has egg, bacon, cheese and heaps of other crazy goodness. Also on the hit list is the Cheese Beano and Pizza Pie.

I’m upset at how poorly I am describing these pies and am not doing them any justice. You just need to take my word for it.

Anyway this reminds me of when Stu and Matt decided at about 3am that they were going to go get a pie. The fact that the shop didn’t open until 5:30am didn’t bother them and off they went… about 30 minutes later Stu came back because he forgot his wallet.

It’s pretty damn funny that they went off for pies so early in the morning but what’s even funnier is that when they got there they had to wait behind a couple of other dudes who had the same idea!

Road To Inverock – Beer

Well pretty much the number one staple when it comes to stocking up on supplies for Inverock is beer.

A fuckload of beer.

With beer comes the horrible feeling like shit mornings that usually involve a crawl to the town center for pies (the second staple) and to regain some form of order before hitting the fairways.

I remember one morning making the crawl to get pies only to get there and feel every inch of my stomach preparing to rebel against anything that is a solid.

I’m not quite sure what happened but the next thing I know I’m at the pub having a stare off with a pot of beer.

After about 45 minutes I think more than 95% of the beer was still there.

Beer may have won in the morning but it was game set and match that night when I challenged beer to a rematch and walked away with the gold.

Road To Inverock

There’s excitement in the air as Inverock 06 kicks off this Friday and to help get you though the long long days leading up to it I thought I would step into my time machine and do at least one post a day covering off some of the moments that make Inverock what it is…

BORAT!

” Kazakhstan is more civilized now. Women can now travel on inside of bus, and homosexuals no longer have to wear blue hat. “

I hope with all of these clips floating around on the internet that there will still be ‘new stuff’ when I actually go see the movie!

The Pick of Destiny

Are you ready to RAWK?

Alright people, the new Guitar Hero is almost here and the playlist has been published. This game look set to shit all over the first one with not only heaps more (and better) tracks, but a much improved multiplayer element that allows players to battle head to head or in co-op mode. You can choose to play the song note for note or play just the lead, rhythm or bass parts, or go back to the original way and take turns through the song.

The career mode has been tweaked and is much more prominent now. You start off jamming at high school gigs then move up to the big leagues as you progress through the game.

A new feature will be a practice mode allowing players to select various sections of a song and slow them down so you can nail that impossible solo without having to do the whole song over and over.

For Xbox360 geeks out there the word on the street is the axe you will be jamming on is a light grey Gibson Explorer, which, in my opinion, looks heaps better than the black Gibson SG from the original.

On to the most important bits: the tracks. Now, if anyone needs the track list on CD, give me a yell, and it can be arranged.

1. Opening Licks

2. Amp-Warmers
KISS – “Strutter”
Nirvana – “Heart-Shaped Box”
The Police – “Message in a Bottle”

Kansas – “Carry On Wayward Son”

3. String-Snappers
Foo Fighters – “Monkey Wrench”
Alice in Chains – “Them Bones”
Iggy Pop and The Stooges – “Search and Destroy”
The Pretenders – “Tattooed Love Boys”

4. Thrash and Burn

6. Relentless Riffs

Suicidal Tendencies – “Institutionalized”
Dick Dale – “Misirlou”
Megadeth – “Hangar 18″
Lynyrd Skynyrd – “Free Bird”

Now keep in mind these are the 40 main tracks of the game, there will be (or is rumoured to be) 24 bonus tracks that will most likely be predominantly indie tracks but may contain some gold. I’m hoping for some Bon Jovi and the ‘D, but I think there is more chance of Metallica releasing a decent album some time in the next 20 years than there being any good hidden tracks.

I suggest people have a listen to the songs and familiarise yourselves as I will be bringing the PS2 to Inverock(TM). That’s right bitches, I own Inverock(TM) now!

Rock on.

Edit: As the game conveniently is not out until after Inverock (TM), I will be forced to bring down the first game. Boo. But on the other hand, I will be destroying all that are stupid enough to challenge me. Except Jana, who also has the game.

Give me some disco

Hello all I thought I should put in a post about the panic at the disco show on Sunday night. It was a really cold night with a bad wind but this did not stop people from forming a massive que at the door so we went to get some Mac D’s and let the line get smaller. We came back 30 min’s latter but the line was just as big.

It was my first time at the Palace and it is a good midsize venue that reminded me of the good old Metro. We got to see the last song by a good Aussie band Something with numbers I see good things for the boys they have a lot of talent. Next was Kisschasey they were good as always.

So finally Panic hit the stage and let me tell you for a band with only one album they played one kick ass set. They sounded great and they all seem to be able to play multiple instruments. We got 2 covers in the set one was a kick ass version of Karma police and the other was a smashing pumpkins song can’t remember the name.

All in all it was a really good show but not good enough to knock off the current show of the year leaders Lagwagon. With only a few shows left this year it is going to be hard to beat that show. It just goes to show that the first show you see for the year can be the best so bring on the D.

Rock!

Wake me up when my hangover ends…

Hi all,

Been having a friggen great time overseas on my trip through europe. Am currently in Budapest at the moment recovering from a hang over obtained from a night crawl the night before.Staying at an apartment thats better than my one back home. It has fucking shit internet though (bloody windows 98 for christ sake) that has already crashed once and means i had to write this post again.

Anyway have just finished my 6 day tour of poland, czech and slovakia which was really fun. Spent most of my time in poland in cool little towns getting absolutely hammered.every night. In fact ive never drank so much in my whole life and thats saying a bit from someone thats tried to scull a bottle of vodka before. The vodka over here is soooo bloody good and is only 2 bucks. I think the record was about 14-15 shots in one night and 6 beers. General routine of the tour was to wake up with a hangover stroll through the town checking out the local sites and then hitting the bars till we got kicked out. Get about 4-5hrs sleep and then travel to the next town and do it all again. The woman in europe are really, really hot and most places that we’ve been to have been university towns. In fact i think ive suffered a bit of whiplash from checking them all out.Brussels was a really nice city with a real carnival atmosphere. Just strolling the city was really fun as there there was always some music or event going on right in the middle of the streets. The beer, waffles and chocolate were really fantastic.

Of course i cant forget Oktoberfest. Actually i do forget most of it coz i got absolutely hammered. I remember lots of big pretzels, big beer steins, big tents and big breasted woman. Pretty much everyone was dressed up in their traditional clothing with leiderhosen or patchwork dresses and stuff.

Im heading onto Hong Kong tommorrow for the next couple of nights so that should be pretty fun.

Anyway going to finally get some rest before i drop dead.

See you on the flipside.

SUNDAY JANUARY 21st GOLD COAST PARKLANDS
THURSDAY JANUARY 25th SYDNEY SHOWGROUND
SUNDAY JANUARY 28th PRINCES PARK SOUTH
FRIDAY FEBRUARY 2nd ROYAL ADELAIDE SHOWGROUND
SUNDAY FEBRUARY 4th CLAREMONT SHOWGROUND

Tickets go on sale Friday the 13th of October for $115 plus booking fee so probably looking at around 130 bunge…

Now that looks like a pretty good line up. It may be because I’m getting old but I think I would prefer to see bands like Tool, Muse and the Killers in a smaller venue. After seeing Muse a couple of years ago at the Big Day Out it would have been much better to see them in a close intimate gig. Playing outdoors just didn’t do it for me. They were great don’t get me wrong but it was lacking the intensity and atmosphere that you would expect for a Muse gig. I could see this being the case for Tool and the Killers also.

Either way, are you going to go and what do you think of the line up so far…?
