Sweet Sweet Candy (Eye candy that is)

Ohiyo,

Just thought i would spread the word about some of the sweet television displays currently available at the moment. Now if your a lazy bum like me who sits on his ass all day and watches T.V then i would say that nows the right time to pick up a bargain.
At the moment there’s plenty of sweet deals floating around. I recently picked up a 32″ samsung LCD t.v for only $2200. JB Hi fi actually knocked off about $200 of the retail price so if your good at haggling, this is definitely the place to go. Either the new samsung model the Sony Bravia or LG are the best LCD’s floating around at the moment. Lipton Rod recently purchased a 42″ plasma display and i cant wait to see how movies and games look on it.
LCD’s are especially sweet when hooked up to a xbox 360 or to Hi-def antenna. Once you’ve seen PG3 (project gotham 3 for the uninitiated) on a true Hi-def T.V you’ll be droolin g (I still have the marks on my carpet to prove it).

Anyway i hope i’ve convinced you to rush out and grab yourself a new display as your eyes will definitely appreciate it.

Till next time Kick out the jams.

10,000 Days

Speaking of Kyle Sandilands….the new tool album is only a few weeks away so all you metal heads out there get ready to rock!

in anticipation of the upcoming album, a single has been released to generate interest, which is a little unusual for a band well known for producing many songs that could almost match whole punk albums for length by themselves. but then again may not be as silly as it seems as it has been almost six years since their last album so generating interest may be require to remind everyone they are still around!

the single is called ‘vicarious’ and true to tool tradition it breaks the 7 minute barrier and the kick-ass barrier as the song fuckin rocks. it is ostensibly similar of last album ‘lateralus’, but after the required several listens, proves to be a beast all of its own. the guitar sound and riffs are reminiscent of ‘the grudge’ and ’schism’, but the vocals feature some new twists and harmonies not present on previous tool tracks. being such a long song, there are plenty of opportunities for a number of sweet riffs and the song delivers in spades. unfortunately for the unenlightened, like all tool songs it demands a number of listens not just to begin to appreciate the song, but just to digest the many layers and parts to it before it fully becomes forged as a complete song in the mind rather than a complex wall of killer riffs, sweet harmonies and phat beats. but in the age of cheap, shit, unimaginative musical bellybutton-fluff, this should be considered a good thing as it challenges you and demands further listening. from an economical perspective, this is good, as you get plenty of bang-for-buck from them.

for if this song is a litmus test for the rest of the album, ‘10,000 days’, then things are looking peachy.

After May i’ll be all strungout

Hi all,

Just thought i would post a list of some of the music gigs coming up as i will probably forget the dates and details if i dont.

On Friday 5th May Bodyjar and Blueline medic will be playing at the arthouse hotel (Never been there, but it sounds more classy than most of the usual dives i go to) in the city.
Tickets are only $16.70 which is a bloody bargain. While i havent seen them live yet or even heard their last album i’ve heard that bodyjar always put on a mighty fine show and on top that it’s on a friday night so it should be a good after work shindig (in other words an excuse to get shit faced, YAY!)

On Saturday 17th May canadian band silverstein will be playing @ the corner hotel in Richmond. I recently heard their last album ‘discovering the waterfront’ and it’s a great screamfest album simliar to some of Thrice’s efforts. Tickets are fairly expensive @ $35.30 (Bloody GST putting 30 cents on the price), but in my experience screaming semi-hardcore bands like this play with plenty of energy so it should be worth it.

Finally, the band i’m most excited about as i missing them the last time they were over here is Strungout. I only just heard today that they will be playing on Sunday the 18th June @ the Hi-fi bar. I wasn’t actually too happy with their last album (Exile in oblivion) as it was just too generic and really didnt hook me as much as their old stuff (suburban teenage wasteland & twisted by design). Anyway dont let me put you off as i’ve seen these boys play before and this show is guaranteed to rock hard with the ultra-speedy hooks that these boys are famous for. Again tickets are fairly expensive @ $ 38.30 and if you’ve read my previous post on the lagwagon show you should know that the hi-fi isn’t the best venue for moshing, so consider yourself warned.

One other upcoming show which i already have tickets to is the living end / gyroscope double header @ festival hall. It may be too late to still get tickets but i’m going to their show on Saturday 20th May, which promises to absolutely kick ass. Not only do i get to see living end just after the release of their fantastic new album, but i also get to see gyrocope (who i unfortunately didnt get to see when they played their last gig at the northcote social club). The other good thing about this show is that its at festival hall which is just the right size to have a good sized mosh pit, but it doesnt have that shitty D barrier crap like so many other large events have nowdays. Actually this venue will always hold sweet memories of the first greenday concert i went to, so i’m always excited when i go to a show at festival hall.

If any of the usual readers of the hundredpennies posts are interested in going to any of the above gigs, just give me a buzz and i will hook you up with some tickets.
Anyway i should be getting back to work I’m actually meant to be listening to some seminar for work at the moment, but it was so fucking boring i couldnt sit there any longer so i decided to write this post.

Till next time ROCK ON!!
